Thanks @ctvnews for having me on your program this Thanks @ctvnews for having me on your program this evening!
Hi everyone! I’m settled back in Halifax now and Hi everyone! I’m settled back in Halifax now and wanted to invite you to a virtual event I’m speaking at this evening. It’s through Dalhousie University and the subject is medical professionalism and social media. As doctors, should we shut up or speak out? To learn how to join, check out today’s post on my website. Link in bio!
Almost home to #Halifax after my 7-months of work Almost home to #Halifax after my 7-months of work as a hospitalist in #Yellowknife. Pandemic travel is so different than regular travel. Writing down some thoughts on the plane...
#✈️
Sitting in my window seat, we’re driving to the de-icing section of Toronto’s Pearson airport. I try to decide-when should I take that drink of water? I’m a bit thirsty, but I might wait a bit longer. Then I’ll drink a whole bunch of water all at once. That way, I’ll minimize the amount of time without wearing my mask while hydrating efficiently. The mask. That synthetic layer of material separating mouth from air, health from potential illness, me from everybody else. A fashion statement, a political symbol, these days. And everyone on the airplane is required to wear one.
.
Wearing a mask and personal protective equipment while at the hospital since the start of this pandemic has been challenging. It’s made communication more difficult. Elderly patients who are hard of hearing struggle even more to understand my words, obscured by a mask and visor. On the plane, there is barely any conversation among the passengers, except maybe the odd, “Pretty crazy? This whole pandemic, huh?” We act as if we are in our own separate bubbles. I miss that part of traveling.
🛫
Taking off now. More later. See you soon Halifax!

"This pandemic is gendered. And not in a good way." @TorontoStar brings up some important considerations this #InternationalWomensDay re: women being disproportionately affected by the #COVID19 #shecession

Toronto Star@TorontoStar

International Women’s Day was born out of a labour movement to combat inhumane work conditions. As the pandemic rages on, that challenge is more real than ever. #IWD2021 http://torstar.co/DpNX50DSpUM
