Sarah Fraser MD

About

Dr. Sarah Fraser is a General Practitioner and writer in Nova Scotia, Canada. She is an Associate Editor with the medical journal Canadian Family Physician and Co-Director of the Medical Humanities Program at Dalhousie University. She is currently training to become a yoga instructor and has written a book of poetry entitled Humanity Emergency.

Dr. Fraser has a passion for health communication. She recognizes that in the world of health, misinformation is abundant. She is passionate about conveying accurate health information in the media.

Sarah wears many hats as a family doctor. She works in the fields of sexual health, newcomer health, family practice, and hospital medicine. She also works with a medical journal and as a teacher for medical students!

While taking on so many roles has its challenges (like remembering where you’re supposed to be on a given day!), it also has its strengths.

When she cares for patients in a hospital, her experiences in the clinic give her knowledge about what they will need when they go back to see their regular family physician. Working with a medical journal helps keep her updated on the latest treatments in family medicine.

While some people may find the variety hectic or perhaps too broad, it’s one of the very things she enjoys most about family medicine.
